Further description:

This case exemplifies how serendipitous scenarios can be converted into games. You could fortuitously pass by the scene you needed for your game. The graffiti used in this example was found on a wall on a street in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona).

Further description:

This example illustrates how certain classic physical games can be easily converted to digital games. “Football chapas” is a traditional outdoor Spanish game. The game elements are basically a football court, some bottle caps (“chapa” is the Spanish word to refer to a bottle cap) that represent the football players, and a ball. The court can be drawn on the floor with chalks. Or it can be created with coloured adhesive tape.

The game consists essentially of a football game. First, all the bottle caps (one per football player) are put on their initial locations and the ball is located in the centre of the court. Then, the kids take turns hitting their bottle caps with their index finger. In each turn, the kid hits twice (whether he hits once two different bottle caps or he hits twice the same bottle cap). The objective is to score more goals than the opponent. It is not allowed to score directly from the kick-off.

Futher description:

Pen race is a Spanish traditional game. Its game mechanics are similar to the chapas game’s ones, but it is played with different materials. The circuit is drawn on a piece of paper. Normally, a circuit with many curves is drawn (in order to get more exciting and engaging games). Each player uses a pen (or a ball pen) of a different colour (instead of a bottle cap).

The players take turns throwing their pens in the way we explain next. In the first turn, each player places the tip of his pen at the starting line. He should hold the pen vertically with his index finger on the top end. Then he presses hard with the finger on the pen so that the pen slides toward the goal. As a consequence, a line is drawn on the piece of paper. In his next turn, the player places the tip of his pen on the location where the line drawn by his pen ends. If the line got out of the circuit, the player places the pen on the exact point where the line begins to leave the circuit. The first player reaching the end line wins the game.
